Refund Policy
Last updated: June 2026
1. Overview
FlightBooking's refund policy is governed by the policies of the airline with which you have booked your flight. As an independent booking assistance service, we facilitate bookings through airline reservation systems, but we are not responsible for airline refund decisions or policies.
IMPORTANT: Refund eligibility and amounts are determined solely by the airline. FlightBooking acts as an intermediary and cannot override or modify airline refund policies.
2. Airline Refund Policies
Each airline has its own refund policy that applies to your flight booking. Refund eligibility depends on:
- The type of ticket purchased (refundable vs. non-refundable)
- The specific airline's policies
- The reason for cancellation
- When the cancellation is requested
- Applicable laws and regulations
2.1 Refundable Tickets
If you purchased a refundable ticket, you may be eligible for a refund if you cancel your flight according to the airline's terms. Refund timelines typically range from 7-30 business days after the airline processes your request.
2.2 Non-Refundable Tickets
Non-refundable tickets generally cannot be refunded. However, you may be able to:
- Receive a travel credit for future flights
- Change your flight to a different date (subject to change fees)
- Receive a partial refund of taxes and fees
3. FlightBooking Service Fees
FlightBooking charges a service fee for booking assistance. This fee is:
- Non-refundable in most cases
- Charged separately from the airline ticket price
- Disclosed before you confirm your booking
- Retained by FlightBooking for services rendered
Even if your airline ticket is refunded, the FlightBooking service fee is generally not refundable unless we fail to complete the booking or provide the service as promised.
4. Refund Request Process
4.1 Contact the Airline
To request a refund for your flight, you must contact the airline directly:
- Visit the airline's website
- Call the airline's customer service
- Visit the airline's ticket counter at the airport
- Use the airline's mobile app
4.2 FlightBooking Assistance
FlightBooking can assist you by:
- Providing your booking reference number
- Facilitating communication with the airline
- Answering questions about the refund process
- Providing documentation or booking details
However, the final refund decision rests with the airline.
5. Refund Timelines
Refund processing times vary by airline and payment method:
- Credit Card: 5-10 business days
- Debit Card: 7-14 business days
- Bank Transfer: 10-20 business days
- Travel Credit: Immediate (if applicable)
These timelines are estimates. Some airlines may take longer, especially during peak travel seasons or due to technical issues.
6. Airline Cancellations and Delays
If the airline cancels your flight or causes a significant delay, you may be entitled to:
- A full refund of your ticket price
- Rebooking on an alternative flight
- Compensation (depending on jurisdiction and circumstances)
Contact the airline immediately to exercise your rights.
7. EU Regulation 261/2004 (European Passengers)
If you are flying from the EU or to the EU, you may be entitled to compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004 for flight cancellations or significant delays. Compensation amounts range from €250 to €600 depending on flight distance and circumstances.
To claim compensation:
- Contact the airline directly
- Provide your booking reference and flight details
- Submit required documentation
- Allow 4-8 weeks for processing
8. US Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations
If you are flying within the US or from the US, you may be entitled to protections under DOT regulations, including:
- Full refund for cancelled flights
- Rebooking on alternative flights
- Compensation for significant delays (airline policy-dependent)
9. Special Circumstances
9.1 Death or Serious Illness
If you need to cancel due to death or serious illness, contact the airline directly. Many airlines offer compassionate refunds or changes in these circumstances.
9.2 Travel Restrictions
If your destination becomes inaccessible due to government restrictions or travel bans, contact the airline. Refund eligibility depends on the airline's policy and applicable laws.
9.3 Visa Denial
If your visa application is denied, contact the airline. Some airlines offer refunds or travel credits, but this is not guaranteed.
10. Taxes and Fees
If your flight is refunded, the following may be refunded:
- Base fare (if refundable ticket)
- Taxes and government fees
- Fuel surcharges (airline-dependent)
The following are typically NOT refunded:
- FlightBooking service fees
- Third-party booking fees
- Travel insurance (if purchased separately)
11. Partial Refunds
In some cases, you may receive a partial refund consisting of:

- Reduced refund amount (minus change fees)
12. What FlightBooking Cannot Do
FlightBooking cannot:
